Advertising as Art

I think all of these are examples of advertising as art. They are not just art for art's sake, but they are also not just trying to sell a product. Each one finds something beautiful about the product or brand they are advertising, and the creation is something you want to look at or watch over and over.

1. Wieden + Kennedy (Portland, Oregon) - Levi's
This one features the voice and words of Walt Whitman, and uses the cinematography and poetry to create a feeling of the youthful/rebellious image Levi's wants to portray.

2. Y&R (Brisbane, Australia) - Schweppes
This one is my favorite. It is so beautiful and interesting and really does visually capture that "effervescence" which makes it relevant to the product, but does so in such a creative way.

3. Fallon Worldwide (London) - Sony Bravia
I love this one and it almost looks more like something done simply for art's sake than an ad, yet still ends up being relevant to the product as part of the "color" campaign.

4. GSD&M Idea City (Austin, Texas) - BMW
This are very artistic ads done by GSD&M for BMW. I love the tag line the joy of driving and I think the ads express that perfectly. They are saying that driving and what you drive can be a way to express yourself rather than just a means of transportation.

5. BBDO Guerrero (Philippines) - P&G/Tide
This ad for Tide from the Phillippines is visually interesting and I think captures the "burst of scent" feeling very well.
